Do you have a gap between your front teeth? Is a cracked tooth causing bite problems?
Dr. Ray Becker is focused on providing personalized, comprehensive care for those who want to improve their smile. If you are looking to improve your smile, we offer a variety of services in our Columbia, MD area dentist office, including teeth bonding.
Teeth bonding, or dental bonding, uses a tooth-colored resin that is cured to the teeth using a hardening light. Teeth bonding can provide an economical restorative or cosmetic dentistry treatment option for a variety of dental health concerns. A dental bonding procedure is fairly quick and painless. Patients can usually complete this treatment in just one short visit to our dentist office. Dr. Becker is an experienced Columbia, MD area cosmetic dentist. Howard County Smiles can help you achieve natural looking results with teeth bonding.
Dental bonding can be used to:
- Fill dental cavities
- Repair chips and cracks in teeth
- Close a space between front teeth
- Fix misshapen teeth
- Make teeth appear longer or match adjacent teeth
- Improve the appearance of stained teeth
If you have more significant chips or cracks, Dr. Becker may recommend porcelain veneers or dental crowns. These procedures are more comprehensive as they offer more structural support. They reinforce the tooth and restore proper function like bonding, but lasts longer without the need for touchups.
About the Teeth Bonding Procedure
Teeth bonding is typically completed during a single visit to our Columbia, MD dentist office, and takes less than an hour to complete. Dr. Becker will select a composite resin color that will closely match the color of your natural teeth for virtually unnoticeable treatment.
Dr. Becker will prepare the surface of the tooth (or teeth) to be treated. The surface of the tooth will be roughened slightly and a conditioning liquid is applied to help the resin adhere to the tooth. Then, Dr. Becker will directly apply a tooth colored, biocompatible composite resin and sculpt it into the desired shape. The material is hardened by an ultraviolet light or laser. Once the composite has cured, Dr. Becker will trim, shape and polish it to match the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface.
