Dr. Ray Becker is focused on providing personalized, comprehensive care for those who want to improve their smile. If you are looking to improve your smile, we offer a variety of services in our Columbia, MD dentist office, including teeth bonding. Teeth bonding, or dental bonding, uses a tooth-colored resin that is cured to the teeth using a hardening light. Teeth bonding can provide an economical restorative or cosmetic dentistry treatment option for a variety of dental concerns. Dental bonding is a fairly quick procedure and patients can usually receive it in just one short visit to our dentist office. Dr. Becker is an experienced Columbia, MD area cosmetic dentist and can help patients to achieve natural looking results with teeth bonding that can last for years with proper dental care.
Dental bonding can be used to:
- Fill dental cavities
- Repair chips cracks
- Close a space between teeth
- Fix misshapen teeth
- To make teeth appear longer
- Improve the appearance of stained teeth
Teeth bonding is an economical solution to correcting dental concerns because it is quick and efficient. It is also minimally invasive and does not require the same extensive tooth preparations as crowns or veneers. It is also the perfect solution for younger patients who need a tooth repaired or want to improve their smile but are not ready for a permanent solution. Bonding is not as durable and will not last as long as permanent restorations. They may need touched up or replaced in about 10 years maybe longer if you have good oral habits. Also, if you have more significant chips or cracks, Dr. Becker may recommend porcelain veneers or dental crowns to reinforce the tooth and restore proper function.
About the Teeth Bonding Procedure
Teeth bonding is typically done during a single visit to our Columbia, MD dentist office and takes less than an hour to complete. Patients will be able to enjoy instant results with little or no downtime. Dr. Becker will select a composite resin color that will closely match the color of your natural teeth for virtually unnoticeable treatment.
Dr. Becker will prepare the surface of the tooth (or teeth) to be treated. The surface of the tooth will be roughened slightly and a conditioning liquid is applied to help the resin adhere to the tooth. Then Dr. Becker will directly apply a tooth colored, biocompatible composite resin and sculpt it into the desired shape by hand. The material is hardened by an ultraviolet light or laser. Once the composite has cured, Dr. Becker will trim, shape and polish it to match the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface.
Dr. Becker will keep open communication throughout the process to ensure that you are fully satisfied with the appearance of your newly bonded tooth.
