At Howard County Smiles, we’re not just a dental practice. We’re a family business in the truest sense of the word. Dr. Ray Becker started this practice over 35 years ago with a vision of providing exceptional, compassionate care. Today, he’s joined by his daughter, Dr. Breanna Becker. Together, they offer something you simply don’t see every day; a father-daughter family dentistry team that blends decades of experience with fresh, next-generation expertise.
Here’s how their story came to be and what it means for you.

A Dream That Started Early
Dr. Breanna Becker knew she wanted to be a dentist since the age of six. That’s not a common childhood aspiration. But Breanna grew up watching her father, Dr. Ray Becker, bring his lab cases home to work on. She saw the care, precision, and artistry he put into every single case.
As she got older, she didn’t just watch from the sidelines. During high school and college summers, Breanna worked at Howard County Smiles as an assistant and lab technician. She learned the ropes from the ground up. She saw how her father treated patients: with kindness, patience, and genuine concern for their well-being.
That experience shaped her. It taught her that dentistry isn’t just about fixing teeth. It’s about building relationships and helping people feel confident in their smiles.
Experience Meets Fresh Perspective
Dr. Ray Becker brings over 40 years of experience to the practice. He’s one of the most respected dentists in Maryland. He was the first dentist in Maryland to use CEREC technology, and today he’s recognized as the longest continuous user of CEREC in the world. He’s completed over 45,000 restorations. He’s an international instructor and speaker who helps develop the systems other dentists use.
That’s an incredible legacy. But what makes it even better is that he doesn’t work alone.
Dr. Breanna Becker brings her own unique talents to the team. She holds a degree in studio art, which gives her a sharp eye for aesthetics and beauty. She combines that artistic background with her dental precision to create smiles that look natural and feel comfortable.
Dr. Breanna Becker also brings a modern approach to preventive care and patient education. She’s passionate about helping patients understand their oral health and make empowered choices. She believes in getting to know every person who sits in her chair on a personal level so they can work together as a team.
